EARTHQUAKE IN PERU...PERUVIANS NEED YOUR HELP

Some Peru’s region are again in situation of emergency. On the extreme cold winter that southern and central Peru was still suffering, yesterday 15th of August, 2007, at 6:41 PM, Peru was shaken to its core last night when a 7.9-magnitude earthquake rattled the country and left at least 337 dead and more than 800 injured.
The quake hit Peru's coast, and people were primarily killed in the Ica region, which lies south of the country's capital, Lima.
More than 200 were killed when a church collapsed in the town of Pisco as they were attending religious services.
This earthquake came to worsen the bad situation already created by the extreme Cold winter and hit strongly the poorest Peruvians, affecting directly their survival, producing lots of damages, not only to their economy but also to their daily subsistence.
HELP A VICTIM IN PERU…
The General Consulate of Peru in Atlanta, in cooperation with the Peruvian local organizations has launched a campaign to collect money donations in order to obtain humanitarian help destined to the communities affected by the earthquake and the intense cold.
We are accepting only money donations so far, due to the problems that would represent the cost of transportation from USA to Peru, which in some cases can reach to several thousands of dollars. However, we are also coordinating with the local Peruvian organizations and beneficial institutions the best way to finance the transportation of donations good which be donated.
Therefore, the Peruvian American Association of Georgia, in cooperating with the Consulates, has opened a bank account in which you can deposit the money donations, which will be transferred to the National Institute of Civil Defense in Peru, for the acquisition of warm clothes, blankets, medical material, medicines and food, or paying the transportation of the good that be eventually donated.
